SV	En opdat ik mij door de uitnemendheid der openbaringen niet zou verheffen, zo is mij gegeven een scherpe doorn in het vlees, [namelijk] een engel des satans, dat hij mij met vuisten slaan zou, opdat ik mij niet zou verheffen.

ASV	And by reason of the exceeding greatness of the revelations, that I should not be exalted overmuch, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, that I should not be exalted overmuch.
BE	And because the revelations were so very great, in order that I might not be overmuch lifted up, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, one sent from Satan to give me pain.
Byz	και τη υπερβολη των αποκαλυψεων ινα μη υπεραιρωμαι εδοθη μοι σκολοψ τη σαρκι αγγελος σαταν ινα με κολαφιζη ινα μη υπεραιρωμαι
Darby	And that I might not be exalted by the exceeding greatness of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn for the flesh, a messenger of Satan that he might buffet me, that I might not be exalted.
ELB05	Und auf daß ich mich nicht durch die Überschwenglichkeit der Offenbarungen überhebe, wurde mir ein Dorn für das Fleisch gegeben, ein Engel Satans, auf daß er mich mit Fäusten schlage, auf daß ich mich nicht überhebe.
LSG	Et pour que je ne sois pas enflé d'orgueil, à cause de l'excellence de ces révélations, il m'a été mis une écharde dans la chair, un ange de Satan pour me souffleter et m'empêcher de m'enorgueillir.

Sch	Und damit ich mich der außerordentlichen Offenbarungen nicht überhebe, wurde mir ein Pfahl fürs Fleisch gegeben, ein Engel Satans, daß er mich mit Fäusten schlage, damit ich mich nicht überhebe.
Scriv	και τη υπερβολη των αποκαλυψεων ινα μη υπεραιρωμαι εδοθη μοι σκολοψ τη σαρκι αγγελος σαταν ινα με κολαφιζη ινα μη υπεραιρωμαι
Web	And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.
Weym	And judging by the stupendous grandeur of the revelations--therefore lest I should be over-elated there has been sent to me, like the agony of impalement, Satan's angel dealing blow after blow, lest I should be over-elated.
