ὅταν,

IC), Ilias Homerus Epicus “Illiad” 1.519, etc. ; also of events like ly to recur, 2.397, “IG” 12.97.9, etc. : also in Epic dialect ὅτε κεν Ilias Homerus Epicus “Illiad” 1.567, 6.225: strengthened, ὅ. περ Sophocles Tragicus “Oedipus Coloneus” 301, Plato Philosophus “Respublica” 565a, 565d : repeated for rhetorical effect, ὅ. ὡς ὑβρίζων, ὅ. ὡς ἐχθρὸς ὑπάρχων, ὅ. κονδύλοις, ὅ. ἐπὶ κόρρης Demosthenes Orator 21.72.

__A.3 never with optative in early authors, except in indirect speech, where in orat. recta the subjunctive with ὅταν would have stood, as perhaps Aeschylus Tragicus “Persae” 450 may be explained (ὅτ᾽ ἐκνεῶν Elmsl.) ; ὅτε κεν followed by ἵκοι, Ilias Homerus Epicus “Illiad” 9.525.
