__III.2 wealthy, Palaephatus Paradoxographus 31.4 (assuming variant). χρῡσέη, χρῡσέην, χρῡσέου, χρῡσέῳ, etc., in Homerus Epicus must be pronounced as disyllable, as is fully proved by such passages as Ilias Homerus Epicus “Illiad” 1.15, 374: but Lyric Poets sometimes used ῠ in χρύσεος, Pindarus Lyricus “P.” 3.73, 4.4, 144, al., Bacchylides Lyricus 9.6, 15.2 ; so also Trag., but only in Lyric poetry, not in Iambics or Anapaestics, Sophocles Tragicus “Oedipus Tyrannus” 157, 188, “Ant.” 103, Euripides Tragicus “Medea” 632, 978, “IA” 1051, “IT” 1253, “Tr.” 856, “Ba.” 372, “Heracl.” 916, “HF” 351, 396, “El.” 192; sometimes also Epigrammatists, “Anthologia Graeca” 6.292.2 (Hedylus Epigrammaticus), 7.233.1 (Apollonides Epigrammaticus), 13.18.4 (from Parmeno), “APl.” 4.96.8.
