  genitive χρωτός, dative χρωτί, accusative χρῶτα (Attic dialect χρώ only in Choeroboscus Grammaticus “Scholia in Theodosii Canones” 1.248H.): Ep. and Ion.gen. χροός, dat. χροΐ, acc. χρόα (also in Lesbian, Sappho Lyrica “Papyrus fragments” in E. Diehl, 10.6, al.) , as always in Hom.and Hesiodus Epicus, except gen. χρωτός in Ilias Homerus Epicus “Illiad” 10.575 , accusative χρῶτα Odyssea Homerus Epicus “Odyssey” 18.172, 179, Hesiodus Epicus “Opera et Dies” 556; Empedocles Poeta Philosophus uses χρωτός, 76.3 (but χροΐ 100.17); Pindarus Lyricus uses χρωτί, χρῶτα, “P.” 1.55, “I.” 4(3).23(41) ; these forms are frequently in Trag., but Ionic dialect dative χροΐ occurs in Sophocles Tragicus “Trachiniae” 605, and χροός, χροΐ, χρόα are frequently in Euripides Tragicus, “Hec.” 548, “Med.” 1175, “Ph.” 264, al.:— dat. χρῷ occurs in the phrase ἐν χρῷ see below 1.2 and in Sappho Lyrica 2.10. —rare in Comedy texts and Attic.
