χίλιοι χῑ, αι, α:
  genitive plural feminine χιλιῶν, irregular in Attic dialect accusative to Herodianus Grammaticus Gr. 1.426 (probably only when χίλιαι was used as a fem. substantive (see. below 3)) ; dative plural feminine (originally locative) χιλίᾱσιν “IG” 12.10.18; χιλίαισι prev. work76.20, 94.10; later χιλίαις : dialect forms, Locrian dialect χίλιοι (as in Attic dialect, see above) “IG” 9(1).334.39 (Oeanthea, 5th c.BC) ; Doric dialect χήλιοι (written χέλ-) prev. work 5(1).1.23 (Sparta, 5th c.BC), Lesb., Thess. χέλλιοι “Etymologicum Magnum” 817.1 (compare χελληστύς), “IG” 9(2).1229.29 (Phalanna, 2nd c.BC) ; Ionic dialect χείλιοι “Schwyzer” 688 C 15 (Chios, 5th c.BC) , which should probably be restored in Homerus Epicus, compare δεκάχ (ε) ιλοι:—a thousand, Homerus Epicus only in neut., χ. μέτρα, πυρά, Ilias Homerus Epicus “Illiad” 7.471, 8.562 ; πρῶθ᾽ ἑκατὸν βοῦς δῶκεν, ἔπειτα δὲ χίλι᾽ ὑπέστη (i.e. πρόβατα), αἶγας ὁμοῦ καὶ ὄϊς 11.244 : usually agreeing with its substantive, Hesiodus Epicus “Theogonia” 364, etc. ; but sometimes as substantive followed by genitive, χίλιοι Μακεδόνων Thucydides Historicus 2.80 : to express the addition of a smaller number, that number may either precede or follow, διακόσιοι καὶ χ. Isocrates Orator 4.87, 93, Plato Philosophus “Critias” 119b: but χ. καὶ πεντακόσιοι Aeschines Orator 2.77 ; later καί is frequently omitted, Polybius Historicus 3.33.10, LXX.Dan.12.11, NT.Rev.11.3; with Preps. χ. ἐπὶ μυρίοις Plato Philosophus “Leges” 895a; τέτταρας πρὸς τοῖς χ. Lucianus Sophista “Cat.” 4 ; οἱ χ. λογάδες (at Argos) the Thousand, Thucydides Historicus 5.67, compare Diodorus Siculus Historicus 12.80.
