  Attic dialect ἐκμάττω, perfect ἐκμέμᾰχα (ἐκμέμα-κα codices) conjecture in Dionysius Halicarnassensis “de Demosthene” 4: aorist 2 passive -εμάγην ᾰ Plato Philosophus “Theaetetus” 191d ; also aorist I participle ἐκμαχθείς 5th c.AD(?): Hesychius Legal icographus :—wipe off, wipe away, κάρᾳ κηλῖδας ἐξέμαξεν Sophocles Tragicus “Electra” 446 ; ἔκμασσε τὸ αἷμα Euripides Tragicus “Hercules Furens” 1400; ἀλωπεκίας ὀθονίῳ Archigenes Medicus cited in Galenus Medicus 12.406 :—middle, wipe away one's tears, Anthologia Graeca 5.42 (Rufinus Epigrammaticus).
